HAB: How To
HAB is your family's own AI assistant. It runs on your PC at home, so your chats stay home, and everyone in the family gets their own HAB on their phone.
What HAB does
- Talk naturally. Tap the mic and have a real back-and-forth conversation, or type.
- Keeps the family organised. Shared lists ("add milk to our shopping list"), notes, and reminders that buzz your phone ("remind me tomorrow at 9 to call the dentist").
- Helps with homework the right way. For schoolwork, HAB teaches step by step instead of handing over answers.
- Remembers what matters. Ask "what do you remember about me?" any time, and change or delete it.
- Answers from your own files. Point HAB's Library at documents and he answers with where it came from.
- Does things for you. Pictures, helpers that run by themselves (a morning brief, price watch), smart-home control, and tools HAB builds himself, always with your OK.
- Works with any AI brain. HAB uses the brain on your PC, and can use a bigger online one when you allow it. If a brain can't do something, HAB switches to one that can.
The ways to use HAB

Getting started, step by step
1. Install HAB on your PC
- Run the HAB installer and agree to the terms.
- Choose "This is HAB's main PC" (or "PC relay" to lend a second PC to a HAB you already have).
- Pick a brain from the list. Each one says what it's good at and how well it runs on your PC; the ⭐ one fits best. No graphics card? HAB runs on the processor.
- HAB installs everything it needs, then opens. Create your account and you're in.
2. Put HAB on your phone
- On the PC: Menu → 📱 Get HAB on your phone. A code appears.
- Point your phone's camera at it and tap the link. You're logged in, no typing.
- Make it an app: iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen; Android, tap ⋮ → Add to Home screen. (Using the HAB app from the store? Tap 📷 Scan instead.)
Away from home: the owner turns on Settings → Account & devices → 🌍 Use HAB away from home. No extra apps: HAB works anywhere, and your chats still stay on your PC (they travel end-to-end encrypted).
3. Add your family
Family → 💌 Invite someone sends them a link to make their own account. Parents make kids' accounts.
4. Try these first
The start buttons in a new chat show HAB's best tricks: start a family shopping list, homework help, set a reminder, or ask what HAB remembers about you. Turn on notifications (Settings → Account & devices) so reminders and messages reach your lock screen.
Family, kids and privacy
- Everyone gets their own HAB: their own name, personality, settings and memories.
- Kid accounts are made by a parent. They get filtered answers, homework help that teaches, and no grown-up features; parents can see their chats.
- Your chats stay home. On your PC, nothing is sent anywhere unless you allow an online brain, and HAB asks each person first.
- Kids use the home brain only. A child's messages are answered on your own PC and never leave it.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling data. Ever.
- You're in control: delete a chat, a memory or your whole account any time (Settings → Account & devices → Delete my account).
- Safety built in: a safety watcher keeps an eye on HAB, and anyone can report a reply (⋯ under it → ⚑ Report this reply).
Getting help
- Something's wrong? Tap 🐞 Bug and say what happened. It goes to the people who fix HAB, with what they need to find it (never your chats or passwords).
- An idea or a wish? Send it the same way, as a request.
- Forgot your password? Tap "Forgot password?" on the log-in screen to get a code at your recovery email (add one in Settings → Account & devices). Kids: ask a parent.
- Ask HAB himself: "how do I…?" and he shows you on the screen, step by step.
